Seasonal Closures and Wildlife Updates

We work with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the US Forest Service, and the Sinks Canyon State Park each year on an Adaptive Management Plan that identifies nesting raptors and closes parts of the cliff, while allowing continued recreation in the adjacent areas.

This plan begins with Wyoming Game and Fish, who first identifies potential nesting sites. They then follow up with a study that checks out the potential nests with spotting scopes, before going and looking at the nesting site. In previous years, the birds nesting up at Fossil have successfully hatched multiple times with continued recreation.
