Seasonal Closures and Wildlife Updates

We work closely with the Wyoming Game & Fish Department, the US Forest Service, and the Sinks Canyon State Park each year on an Adaptive Management Plan that identifies nesting raptors and closes parts of the cliff, while allowing continued recreation in the adjacent areas.

This plan begins with first identifying and then closely monitoring potential and active nesting sites. In previous years, the falcons nesting at Fossil Hill have successfully hatched multiple times with continued recreation – a win for wildlife and climbers alike! By respecting voluntary closures, climbers can help to protect healthy raptor populations and sustainable climbing access.

Unsure of what areas are closed? Check back here, on our social media channels, or Mountain Project for updates!
